Your Course Guide

Carol Anne Strange

I’m Carol Anne Strange and I accepted my first writing commission over 35 years ago and, since then, I’ve delivered millions of good words for magazines, publishers, entrepreneurs, change-makers, businesses and, ultimately, readers in the UK and beyond.

My features have been published in the award-winning Breathe magazine as well as Teen Breathe, Derbyshire Life, Sussex Life, Furniture & Cabinetmaking, Coast and Lancashire Life to name just a few.

I’ve written about holistic health, roundhouses, shepherd huts, reverse bucket lists, second chances, repair shops, flower essences, remote working, commonplace books, kindness, megaliths, evening rituals, and much more. I’ve also had short stories and poetry published, and my byline has appeared in magazines in the UK, USA, Australia and even Oman.

As well as writing for publication, I have a Professional Writing MA (Falmouth University) and I’m a writing tutor at The Writers Bureau. Drawing on my knowledge and experience, you can be sure of receiving quality guidance and support to help you achieve your writing goals.

Your questions answered…

Is the course suitable for complete beginners?

Yes, it’s ideal for aspiring and emerging writers.

Do I need a degree in English?

No. You just need a reasonable grasp of the English language, and a desire to keep learning and improving your writing skills.

What tools do I need to complete this course?

You’ll need access to a computer, email account, MS Word software (or compatible equivalent), PDF reader, pen, paper and notebooks. It helps to have access to a printer if you’d like to print a copy of the course materials for your personal reference.

How often can I submit an assignment?

If you’re paying for the course on a monthly basis, you can submit one assignment per month for appraisal and feedback.

If you’ve paid for the course upfront, you can submit assignments more frequently, if you wish, to suit you.

How quickly can I expect feedback on my assignments?

Unless otherwise agreed, your assignments will be appraised and returned to you with feedback within 7 working days of receipt.

How much time will it take to complete each assignment?

It depends upon the individual. In my experience, writing creatively (stories or poems) can take longer to complete than writing articles. Go at your own pace. Focus on producing your best work.

How long will it take to complete the course?

You have up to one year to finish the course but, depending upon your existing commitments, it’s possible to complete within seven months.

What happens if it takes longer than one year to finish the course?

The course is designed to be flexible, but you’re encouraged to keep the momentum going once you’ve started the course. If you think it will take longer to complete because of your circumstances, let me know so we can discuss a plan of action.

Do you offer refunds?

As the course is tailored to suit you and because you receive the materials directly by email and are booking my time, there are no refunds. Please make sure that you wish to take the course before you make payment.

Will I become a published and paid writer?

I will work with you to give you a solid overview of writing for magazines and I’ll help you to improve your writing to a publishable standard. I can’t, however, guarantee that you’ll be published in magazines and/or paid for your words, but you’ll be in the best possible position for that to happen.

Can I pay for the course by bank transfer?

If you would prefer to pay for the course via Bank Transfer, please email me to arrange.

Can I continue to receive one-to-one mentoring with you after finishing the course?

If you require ongoing support or guidance with a particular project, please let me know and I’ll be happy to help where I can.

Are You Ready to Begin?

If you have any other questions or would like to reserve your place before making payment, email me.

I look forward to assisting you on your writer’s journey.
