Carol Anne Strange is a writer of contemporary fiction. Her works have a fantasy element weaving through reality and there is usually a love story running through the core.

Carol AnneBorn in Lancashire in 1964 and brought up in a former blacksmith’s cottage by the river, Carol’s childhood was filled with science, nature, magic, and mystery.  Her first taste of publication came at the age of ten when she had a letter published about the moon and her telescope. Star-gazing, and dreaming of worlds beyond, teased her imagination, as did her interest in the unexplained, and thus began a journey fuelled by curiosity.

Carol started freelance writing in 1985, often drawing upon her experience in holistic health, well-being, and fitness. Her articles appeared in print and digital format worldwide. Over the years, she has added to her skills and experience of living a creative life. She has mentored other writers and now runs a small online publishing company with her partner, Mark Fenwick.

After authoring several non-fiction books (such as Essential Guide to Learning Martial Arts and Start and Run an Internet Business) and many ghostwritten publications, Carol embarked on a rich variety of creative projects involving film, poetry, prose, art, and fiction.  During this time, her relationship with nature, love for the arts, and insatiable interest in science and the spiritual and mysterious realms deepened, inspiring her journey as a creative writer.

In 2005, her first book of prose and poetry In Touch with the Essence won the David St John Thomas Charitable Trust awards.

In 2009, she gained a place on the MA Professional Writing course with University College Falmouth and is due to graduate in January 2011.

After successfully experimenting with short fiction, she is currently completing her debut novel, The Mobile Librarian. This will be the first of many contemporary novels with a fantasy theme.

“Drawing upon my insatiable travelling into the imagination, my works often focus on the themes of love, nature, transience, and the mysteries of life, with a healthy mix of light and dark. Through my evolving writing, my aim is to captivate, enlighten, and entertain my readers through the sometimes philosophical, occasionally profound, and infinitely imaginative landscape of words.”

Carol is a member of The Society of Authors.
